Bosphorus Landing Pad | Istanbul, Turkey

Narrative:

The Yavuz Sultan Selim bridge will be the third major bridge to cross over the northern portion of the Bosphorus Strait, connecting Asian and European soil. The competition asked for an intervention that would stimulate human activity along the riverfront. My team’s proposal aimed to engage the human experience with an interactive landscape. A landscape which would thus turn into a high performance bio-remediation mechanism. Our project yearned to serve as a benefactor to the site by filtering stormwater runoff, while managing to contain all the overall programatic requirements at a subterranean level. The geometry of our intervention was not only implicit on the slopes of the existing terrain, but also a negotiation overlayed with the mandatory common goal outlines illustrated in our rough area takeoffs.

Group project:
My involvement - Physical model | Modeling | Post diagrams & Maps for portfolio

This project was a group competition, composed of selected individuals assigned with specific tasks. My role revolved around generating a Rhinoceros file with all site and proposed information from my lead designers, clean a building and site geometry in order to construct a physical model. For this portfolio I created my own diagrams, maps, and Photoshopped my built physical model. There are four renderings that were done by other collaborative team members assisted by a professional rendering company to help you understand our concept.
